The Gaffer: Football Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
This policy covers The Gaffer: Football and The Gaffer: Rugby (together, “the games”), published by Darren Horrocks. Questions go to dhorrocks@gmail.com.
The short version
The games do not collect your data. They do not send anything to the developer or to anyone else. Everything the games store stays on your device.
What the games store on your device
- Saved games. Your saved games, including the manager name you type when you start a game, the clubs, players and match results.
- Settings. Your display, text size and similar choices.
- Logs. Short technical logs of what the game did, to help find faults. Names of your device, your user account and folders are removed from them before they are written.
All of this is kept in the game’s own storage on your device. You can remove it by clearing the game’s data or by uninstalling the game.
What the games do not do
- They do not ask for an account or a sign-in.
- They do not use the internet. The Android builds ask for no permissions at all (no network, location, contacts, camera, microphone or storage permissions).
- They show no adverts and sell nothing.
- They contain no analytics and no crash reporting.
- They do not use your advertising ID or any other identifier.
The diagnostic bundle
In Diagnostics you can choose to create a bundle: a zip file with the game’s log, technical details of your device (for example the screen size and the amount of memory) and a copy of your latest save. The game creates the file only when you ask for it and saves it where you choose. It is not sent anywhere. If you give it to the developer to report a problem, you are the one sharing it. A save in the bundle contains the manager name you typed, so do not use your real name in the game if you do not want it shared that way.
Store and platform
The store you download the games from (for example Google Play) collects its own information about your download and device under its own privacy policy. The games have no access to it.
Children
The games contain no chat, no user-generated content and no way to contact other players, and they collect no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If a later version collects any data, for example opt-in crash reports, this policy will be updated and the change described before that version is released, and nothing will be sent unless you turn it on.
Your rights
The developer holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct or delete. Your saved games and settings are on your device under your control.
